What is DTF (Direct to Film)?
DTF, or Direct to Film printing, is an advanced method used to transfer high-quality designs onto fabric. Your artwork is first printed onto a special PET film using eco-friendly, water-based inks. A hot-melt adhesive powder is then applied and cured, preparing the transfer for pressing..
Once ready, the film is heat-pressed onto the garment. The design bonds permanently to the fabric, producing vivid colors and fine details. DTF works well on both light and dark textiles and is compatible with cotton, polyester, blends, and more. With proper care, prints remain bright and durable even after many washes.
Which fabrics can I use it on?
One of the biggest advantages of DTF is its wide fabric compatibility:

- Blends (Cotton/Poly): Combines strength and color vibrancy.

How to apply with a home iron (step by step)
Even without a heat press, you can apply your transfer using a regular household iron:
- Position the transfer: Place it where you want on the garment and secure with heat tape if needed.
- Heat the iron: Set to the highest cotton/linen setting with steam turned off. Cover the design with parchment or a protective sheet.
- Press firmly: Apply firm, even pressure for 8–10 seconds. Do not slide the iron.
- Peel the film: Depending on the transfer type, peel warm or after a short cool-down. If areas didn’t stick, press again with slightly higher heat.
- Final press: Re-cover with parchment and press again to lock in durability.
For most fabrics, 275°F – 300°F (140°C – 150°C) works best. This range ensures a strong bond without damaging the garment or dulling the print.
Are DTF transfers durable?
